Andrej Logar

Andrej Logar is a State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Slovenia. He graduated from Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. From 1987 to 1990 he was Consul at the Consulate General of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Gothenburg, Sweden. From 1991 to 1993 he was Head of Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1993 to 1997 he was Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Permanent Representative, Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to the UN Office in Geneva. In 1997 he was Head of Department for Neighbouring States, MFA. From 1997 to 1998 he was State Undersecretary, Head of Minister’s Office at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1998-99 he was Acting Secretary General, MFA. From 1999 to 2003 Mr. Logar was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia to Denmark, Norway, Lithuania and Iceland. From 2003 to 2004 he was State Secretary for EU Affairs and Bilateral Political Relations, MFA. From 2004 to 2005 he was Director-General for EU Affairs and Bilateral Political Relations, MFA. From 2005 to 2010 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary at the World Trade Organization, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the UN Office and other international organisations in Geneva. From 2010 to 2013 Mr. Logar was Head of Department for International Organizations at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2013 to 2017 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Nations in New York. He speaks English, French, Croatian and Serbian.
