Nora Ahmetaj

Nora Ahmetaj is a founder and director of the Centre for Research, Documentation and Publication (CRDP), established in 2010 inspired by a profound need to seek transitional justice, reconciliation and right to truth for the victims, and former adversaries of the Kosovo conflict.  During the armed conflict in Kosovo, she conducted investigations of war crimes and crimes against humanity for the Humanitarian Law Centre. Ahmetaj was trained in human rights and international relations at Harvard Kennedy School, Carr Center for Human Rights Policy in 2000. She earned a Master’s degree of Philosophy in Peace and Conflict Transformation Studies from the University of Tromsø in Norway in 2005, and in 2008 she was trained at the Tufts University in solving of Non-violent Conflicts. In 2010, she gained considerable knowledge in an Advanced Learning Course for Professionals on Dealing with the Past in Switzerland. Previously, she was engaged as a consultant for the European Commission, and worked for variety of international organizations such as UNDP, ICG, AI and HRW. From 2010-2012 Ahmetaj was a member of the Regional Coordination Council of Coalition for Regional Truth Commission (RECOM) for war crimes committed during the years 1991-2001 in Former Yugoslavia. She specializes in human rights, peace & conflict transformation, and transitional justice.
