Biography
Ivana Krstić is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law. She graduated at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade in 1998 with average mark 9.80 (out of 10). She obtained two master degrees at the School of Law, University of Pittsburgh (USA) in 2003, and the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade in 2004 defending master thesis on the International Standards of the Prohibition of Torture. She obtained PhD in early 2008, defending dissertation on Universal Jurisdiction in International Law for Serious Human Rights Violations. She teaches several courses at the primary, master and doctoral level: International Human Rights Law, International Public Law, Minority Rights, International Justice, with special reference to the European Court of Human Rights and Animal Rights. She is also the Coordinator of three legal clinics at the Faculty of Law: legal clinic for different issues of discrimination, legal clinic for combating human trafficking and legal clinic for refugee and asylum law. She has organized several international and domestic conferences, summer schools and seminars and was trainer for several moot court competitions in the area of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law. She has published several monographs, articles and handbooks. She is one of three authors of the textbook on International Human Rights Law and one of two authors of the monograph on the EU Law on the Elimination of Discrimination (published in English). She is also one of two authors of the first parliamentarian publication dedicated to the rights of children with disabilities, and author of the first handbook on migrant rights dedicated to public and local servants. She is engaged in several projects: strengthening the capacity of the National Assembly in the field of child rights (UNICEF National Expert), adoption of the Law on Free Legal Aid (World Bank National Consultant), and strengthening the capacity of public and local servants in treatment of migrants (National expert of the International Organization for Migration). From January 2012 she is a member of the National Council for the Implementation of Strategy on Free Legal Aid and from April 2012 an associate member of the Republic Commission for Transgender Persons.
