Želimir Kešetović

Želimir Kešetović was born in 1960 in Sarajevo. He graduated from the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Belgrade in 1984, finished his MA in 1994 and his PhD in 1999. He worked as an analyst at the Serbian Ministry of the Interior between 1985 and 1995, and held the post of Professor of Sociology and Criminology and Head of the Research and Development Unit of the Police College from 1995 to 2005. He became a member of the think tank for reform of the Ministry of the Interior after the democratic changes in Serbia in 2000 and is Deputy Editor of the Ministry’s journal Bezbednost (Security). In 2005 he became Assistant Professor and subsequent Associate Professor of Crisis management at the faculty of Security Studies in 2009. He has participated in a number of conferences in Serbia and abroad and is the author of more than 150 papers published in domestic and foreign journals and seven books: Censorship in Serbia (1998), Sociology (1999), Police public relations (2000), Research work of the Police College (2004), Comparative models of police training and education (2005), Crisis management – Prevention (2006) and a university textbook Crisis management (2008), essays in the World Police Encyclopedia (Routledge, 2006), Policing in emerging democracies (Fakulteta za varnostne vede,2007), Police Education and Training in a Global Society (Lexington books, 2007) and The Fight Against Terrorism and Crisis Management in the Western Balkans (IOS Press 2008).
