Valbona Zeneli
Biography
Valbona Zeneli is Professor of Security Studies and Deputy Director of the Central and Southeast European program at the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies. Her current research and teaching interests include international economics, transatlantic relations, institutional development in transition economies, corruption, and Southeast European security issues. Dr. Zeneli’ academic credentials include a PhD in international political economy from the University of Bari, Italy, as well as a postgraduate degree in International Marketing from Georgetown University, Washington D.C. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Bologna, Italy, where she graduated with honors. Dr. Zeneli is also a graduate of the Marshall Center’s Leaders Program in International and Security Studies, and a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Executive Education. Before joining the Marshall Center, Dr. Zeneli served as Professor of International Economics at the European University of Tirana and was an Associate Professor at New York University. She has also worked for private companies as an international relations adviser. Dr. Zeneli has been an economic advisor to the Albanian minister of the economy, and Chief of Protocol and economic advisor to the prime minister. Dr. Zeneli has published numerous papers and chapters in well-respected journals and is a frequent contributor to leading international magazines and Southeast European newspapers. She is fluent in English, Albanian and Italian and has good knowledge of German.
