BSF Presentation: Research Findings: Final agreement on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina – Understanding Hearts and Minds (in cooperation with Center for Social Dialogue and Regional Initiatives
The dialogue led between Belgrade and Pristina – political and technical – has come to a halt more than a year ago. One side reactions have provoked responses by the other, and there has been no movement towards the “comprehensive and legally-binding agreement”. Everything that has happened – or precisely because nothing encouraging seems to be happening – leaves little room for optimism. Yet, there are voices, some in Washington, other in Europe, saying how between formation of the government in Pristina and next year’s elections in Belgrade, basis of an agreement could be set. However, how citizens feel about the process, what they think and believe – apart from the efforts of several civil society organisations – has been overlooked.
The public opinion report aim thus is to analyse and understand the meaning and importance of Kosovo in the Serbian public and assess possible scenarios for reaching a comprehensive agreement on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina. The goal is, therefore, to determine what would be the most favorable and realistic scenario – for the Serbian public – in reaching a legally binding agreement.
