Ali Biniaz
Biography
Dr. Ali Biniaz holds a PhD in International Economics and is Director for International Economy and Energy studies at the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), a well-known Tehran-based think-tank affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He was formerly a faculty member at the Islamic Studies and Economics Department of the University of Imam Sadeq in Tehran, where he was mainly involved in teaching basic statistics and econometrics. Moving to the Foreign Ministry and spending several years as a diplomat in London and Kuala Lumpur, Dr. Biniaz then joined the IPIS and started research on energy security and the economics of integration, alongside teaching at the School of International Affairs of the Iranian Foreign Ministry and the University of Tehran. Being impressed by the social impact of the information technology revolution of the early 1990s and the financial crisis of 2008, Dr. Biniaz now intends to direct his attention to researching a different reading of “Self-fashioning” and the future impact that this phenomenon will have on our peace, prosperity and security.
