Biography
Dr André Hahn is Member of the German Parliament, from the Left Party Germany (DIE LINKE). Dr Hahn obtained university entrance diploma in 1982 and studied at Humboldt University Berlin from 1984 to 1989 to become a German and History teacher, after which he went on to conduct research studies in political science and obtained doctorate (Dr. rer. soc.) on the subject of political culture in the final year of the GDR in 1994. Dr Hahn worked as a research assistant for the Linke Liste/Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) parliamentary group in the Federal state parliament of Saxony from 1991 to 1994. He has been a member of the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge county council since 1994, including 14 years as chairman of the PDS/The Left Party parliamentary group; member of the Federal state parliament of Saxony from December 1994 to November 2013; member of the presidium of the Federal state parliament of Saxony from 1995 to 2013; and member of the German Bundestag since October 2013. In the Bundestag, Dr Hahn serves as Parliamentary Secretary of the Left Party parliamentary group, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Panel, Member of the Sports Committee and Sports Policy Spokesman of The Left Party. He is also a member of the Committee on Internal Affairs, the First committee of inquiry (NSA), and the Committee on Tourism.
