Biography
Catherine Fieschi is the Founder and Executive Director of Counterpoint Global, a London-based research and advisory group. Counterpoint Global works across the world providing businesses, governments and NGOs with strategic advice on how to manage the deep cultural and social dynamics that shape key macro-political and security risks. Through her focus on populism and the hidden wiring of contemporary forms of mobilisation, Ms. Fieschi is able to assess new forms of risk and their effects on global markets and politics. She advises business and political leaders around the world and serves regularly on national and international government task-forces. She has particular expertise in European politics and is the author of “In the Shadow of Democracy” (CITATION), as well as numerous essays on how new forms and new means of mobilisation are reshaping European and international politics and institutions. A political scientist and entrepreneur, Ms. Fieschi is a former director of the think tank Demos and a Senior Research Fellow at The Institute for Global Prosperity at UCL where she directs their Politics of Disruption Research Network. She is also the founder of the women’s mentoring programme 50ft Women. Ms. Fieschi holds a PhD in Comparative Political Science from McGill University. She has a column in Chatham House magazine, The World Today, and is a regular participant in press, radio and television debates. She is also a trustee of of the organization “European Alternatives”. A dual citizen of Canada and France, Ms. Fieschi has lived in Italy, Senegal, the United States, but has called the UK home for over 20 years. She is fluent in several languages.
