Biography
Charles Grant is the director of the Centre for European Reform, which he helped to set up in 1996. The Centre for European Reform is an independent think-tank that is dedicated to promoting a reform agenda within the European Union. He is the author of many CER publications.He previously worked for Euromoney and The Economist in London and Brussels. His biography of Jacques Delors (Delors: Inside the House that Jacques Built, published by Nicholas Brealey) appeared in 1994 and has been translated into French, Russian and Japanese. Charles is a regular contributor to the Financial Times, the Guardian and many other publications. He was a director and trustee of the British Council from 2002 to 2008. He is a member of theinternational advisory boards of the Moscow School of Political Studies, the Turkish think-tank EDAM and the French think-tank Terra Nova. He is also a governor of the Ditchley Foundation and a member of the European Council of Foreign Relations. In 2004 he became a chevalier of France’s OrdreNationale du Mérite.
