Biography

Darko Tanasković is a Serbian university Professor, a former ambassador of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and an appointee to the Yugoslav Commission for Truth and Reconciliation. Prof Tanasković graduated from the Department of Oriental Studies, Faculty of Philology at the University of Belgrade, where he also obtained his Master’s Degree and PhD in Arabic Literature. Tanasković has taught on a wide range of subjects related to linguistics, literature and civilization. He has been a visiting professor at the Universities of Sarajevo and Skopje and at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. Since 1999 he has been teaching at the University of Applied Sciences – Megatrend in Belgrade. He is collaborating with the Belgrade Open School (BOŠ) and the Geopolitical Institute (Belgrade).  From 1995 to 1999 he served as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to Turkey and subsequently Azerbaijan. In March 2001 DarkoTanasković was appointed to the Yugoslav Commission for Truth and Reconciliation. In December 2001 he was nominated Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the FR Yugoslavia to the Holy See and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. He speaks French, English, Arabic, Turkish, Italian and Russian, and is fully proficient in Latin and Greek.
