Biography
Ms. Edlira Gjoni, PhD, is a communications professional and activist in Albania, and a fellow at the McCain Institute in Washington DC.
Mrs. Gjoni is involved internationally as a communications and regional expert, known for her advocacy for civic participation, character driven leadership, qualitative journalism and women advancement in decision making.
An experienced journalist and political enthusiast, Edlira has been a vocal voice for the advancement of Western Balkans since 2006. Through her professional and personal commitment, she promotes a peaceful, friendly and welcoming region for all, heralding new models of working and living in Tirana, Skopje and Belgrade.
Her academic background is in Journalism and Communications, with BA, Master, PhD and post-doctoral studies at Tirana University in Albania, Malmö University in Sweden and Arizona State University in the USA.
As the Executive Director for the Centre for Public Impact, she seeks to revive the public discourse about ethics, values and principles in Western Balkan countries and to enhance civic participation of youth and women in Albania and in the region.
