H.E. Christer Asp

Christer Asp is the current Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Serbia, with accreditation to Montenegro as well. He has previously been the Ambassador to Turkey. As the Consul General in Phuket, Thailand, he Head of the Swedish Tsunami Search and Rescue Task Force. His earlier diplomatic expertise within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs incudes work as the Head of Department of Export Control, Minister at the Swedish Permanent EU Representation in Brussels, Head of Cabinet of the Swedish Commissioner to the European Commission and Head of Department of EU Integration Affairs of the Ministry. Among others, he has been posted to Swedish Embassies to Washington D.C, and Jakarta. He also worked as Economic researcher at the World Employment Programme of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva. Ambassador Asp holds a Master’s degree in political science from the University of Stockholm.
