Ivo Belet

Ivo Belet is Deputy Head of Cabinet to European Commission Vice-President Dubravka Šuica since December 2019. In this capacity, Mr Belet is active in key portfolio items such as the Conference on the Future of Europe, the impact of demographic change, and a long-term vision for rural areas. Before his time in the European Commission, Mr Belet spent 15 years as a Member of the European Parliament. He served on the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, the Committee on Culture and Education, and the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety. Prior to entering politics, Mr Belet enjoyed a career as a journalist with the Belgian Public Radio and Television Company, VRT in Brussels. His love for research and writing led him to publish several books on EU policies.
