Biography
Jiří Schneider is the First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, since 2010. From 2005 till 2010, he has been Senior Adviser and Program Director of the Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI). He held the position of Director General of Security and Multilateral Section at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic in 2004 and 2005 and was previously the Director of Analysis and Project Management Department since 1993, except for the 1995 – 1998 period, during which he was posted to Israel, as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic. Mr. Schneider served in the Parliament of Czechoslovakia from 1990 till 1992, first as a Member of the Chamber of the People, and in 1992, as a member of the Chamber of the Nations. Mr. Schneider holds a degree in Geodesy and Cartography from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague, and a Diploma in Religious Studies at the University of Cambridge.
