Biography
Thierry Balzacq (PhD Cambridge) is Honorary Professor and Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He is Tocqueville Professor of International Security Studies (on leave) at the University of Namur in Belgium. He has taught at Sciences Po Paris, Aberystwyth and Louvain. He is the author of 30+ articles and book chapters on security, EU politics, and IR theory. His recent publications include: Securitization Theory: How Security Problems Emerge and Dissolve (Routledge, 2011); Contesting Security (Routledge, forthcoming); Théories de la Sécurité (Presses de Sciences Po, forthcoming).
